~ PRISONERS OF WAR ~

During the Siege of Tobruk the 9th Division suffered some 3,000 men and 940 were taken prisoner by Axis forces. 

Whilst many were reported Missing in Action, when information became available that they had been taken prisoner, a Red Cross card bearing his name, service number and information on his whereabouts was recorded. 

These cards are an invaluable research resource held by the University of Melbourne Library Archives.
